During today’s special Smash Bros. presentation, series director Masahiro Sakurai announced a slew of new stages for the popular fighting game on both 3DS and Wii U. The first, Dream Land 64, retains its original 64-bit appearance, and is available today for $1.99 on either Wii U or 3DS or $2.99 on both.
Sakurai also announced that two more classic Smash stages are on the way. Both Hyrule Castle and Peach’s Castle from the original Super Smash Bros. on Nintendo 64 will join the selection of stages in Super Smash Bros. for 3DS and Wii U sometime in the future.
Finally, the previously announced Miiverse Stage is finally available today on both 3DS and Wii U at no extra cost. Miiverse posts cheering on specific fighters will appear in the background of the stage as you fight, pulled straight from Miiverse communities dedicated to each individual fighter. Its arrival couldn’t be better timed, as the popularity of Miiverse has skyrocketed since the release of Splatoon.
