E3 2015: Shenmue 3 Has Reached its Fundraising Goal on Kickstarter

The highly anticipated action-adventure title, Shenmue 3, has reached its fundraising goal on Kickstarter.

With a pledge of $2 Million, Shenmue 3 hit its goal in less than a day after being revealed at the Sony E3 press conference. With a month left on the campaign, the game will now focus towards stretch goals.

According to Shenmue 3’s Kickstarter page, the game “continues as Ryo and Shenhua start off on a new journey that will take them farther into enemy territory, deeper into mystery, and ever closer to their destiny.” The game will also have familiar elements from its previous titles and a new fight mechanic that will bring interactive storytelling to the next level.

The game’s predecessor, Shenmue 2, launched over 14 years ago on the original Xbox and for a long time, a third installment seemed almost impossible. But now, Shenmue 3 is a real thing.

While no release date has been set, Shenmue 3 will launch on PlayStation 4 and PC.
