E3 2015: Feel the Force with Disney Infinity 3.0

As the video game industry evolves, who would have thought toys are making a comeback. Disney Infinity has brought fan-favorite movie characters back to the spotlight with their figurines and constant content updates to accommodate new releases.

But as you know, it’s not only purely Disney-based characters but also some from their other brands.  In the upcoming Disney Infinity 3.0, we’re getting Star Wars figures at the very start. You’ll get Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano in the starter pack, but after that comes two more groups of Star Wars figures which will include Boba Fett, Yoda and a few from Star Wars Rebels.

The game begins in the Star Wars universe with an investigation into a droid factory that has suddenly restarted production. You can switch between Anakin and Ahsoka as you fight your way up to the factory. Combat in this area is centered around the series’ iconic weapon, the lightsaber and once you arrive, you’ll encounter the first boss of the game– General Grievous. The next group of Star Wars figures come in December from the Force Awakens set which is based on the upcoming film.

A lot of work has gone into the Disney Infinity and more specifically this third edition. Every previous Disney Infinity figurine will work with the new version. A number of different game studios have contributed to the game. Sumo Digital, Studio Gobo and United Front Games all helped out, as well as Ninja Theory who did a lot of sword work with the lightsabers. Disney Infinity 3.0 even got helping hand from Lucasfilm by looking over some of the scripts for the game. While the events are non-canon with the films, Lucasfilm gave everything a once over to make sure the characters and plot were feasible and made sense.

Disney Infinity 3.0 has quite the variety of popular Disney characters lined up for release; they would never leave out their some of their staple franchises. We’ve got Mickey, Minnie, Olaf, Mulan, Tron and even some Disney Pixar’s upcoming animated film, Inside Out. These specific characters and movies they come from have been extremely popular for years. Later on, we’ll also get a set of Marvel characters including Ultron.

Disney Infinity 3.0 will have enough content to keep die-hard fans as well as younger audiences completely satisfied. It’s a fantastic way for families to bond over common interests. It’ll be complex and challenging enough for players of all ages. The first set is going to release this Fall.
