E3 2015: PDP Brings Their Most Diverse Console Accessories Lineup

Every E3 hardware and accessory manufactures come to the event to show off their latest products. Performance Designed Products (PDP) came in a big way, stationed right in-between the Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo booths, and rightfully so as they are showing off some of their next generation accessories for the multiple platforms. We were able to get some hands-on time with some of PDP’s products, while at the same time learning more about what they have for the remainder of the year.

For the Xbox One, one PDP’s biggest product is the Afterglow Prismatic Wired Controller. This is the same as an Xbox One controller but, as Afterglow products do, glows a specific color while having a transparent material base. You can cycle through the various color states easily, but the most important feature is that there’s a 3.5mm audio jack built straight into the bottom. Granted, the newer Xbox One controllers now come with this feature, at least other accessory manufactures are keeping up for future expectations. The Afterglow Prismatic Xbox One Controller will come in at $49.99 and be available October 15.

The second Xbox One center piece is the Afterglow AG 7. This is a wireless headset designed specifically for the Xbox One. It features 40 feet of wireless range, 50mm Neodymium audio drivers and a 16 hour battery life. It’s also well cushioned around the ears and the headband, with a big glowing mute button on the side. For being wireless and touting two different audio modes (Bass Boost and Pure Audio), its $99.99 price point, this is no joke. Unfortunately, demoing it at in the middle of the convention center around Sony and Microsoft wasn’t the most ideal situation as it did disconnect a couple of times, but in the right conditions, such as your own home or apartment, it will do wonders. The Afterglow AG 7 True Wireless Headset will be available sometime this summer.

The PlayStation 4 showing is primarily their new universal media remote. Coming in October, this PlayStation 4 remote, as its name suggests, can be used on everything in your entertainment center. So it can control your PlayStation 4’s media function, which is very useful now that Sony has introduced DLNA and multiple video codec support via a new media player, along with your TV, set-top box and audio receivers. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to get our hands on this device, but it’s something the PlayStation 4 desperately needs, especially now. This will run consumers back a low price of $29.99. Unfortunately, this is pretty much the only thing PDP is showing for PlayStation as they already have a large existing lineup of products for the brand.

PDP isn’t without their Nintendo products, though, as they are bringing a number of stylish devices and stands. For one, they have a new set of Wired Fight Pads for the Wii U that resemble that of the GameCube controller. The selection come in multiple colors / Nintendo themed controllers and said to be perfect for something like Super Smash Bros. The Wired Fight Pad is surprisingly inexpensive, as well, selling for an SRP of $24.99. Past that, there are a number of stands and pouches for Nintendo 3DS owners. For those with an amiibo addiction, PDP is offering a Mario Warp Pipe stand and other displays for those little toys to be placed upon. There are also a number of keychain plushies that store 3DS game cards. Our personal favorite, though is the Nintendo 3DS stand that’s themed after The Legend of Zelda and even has a fully functional Master Sword stylus. All of these products range from $4.99 and $19.99.

Whether you’re a PlayStation, Xbox or Nintendo owner, PDP has something for everyone at an incredible value. If you’re looking for a wireless Xbox One headset at a discounted price, the AG 7 has your back. For those wanting a glowing controller, the Afterglow Prismatic Wired Controller is for you. There’s also the PlayStation 4 universal remote that couldn’t come at a better time with the PS4’s new media functionality, and there’s a bevy of Nintendo related products to be found for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS. PDP is continues to offer the largest and most diverse selection of accessories for consoles.
