Manufacturing for Nintendo’s next console, The Nintendo NX, could begin in October, according to the Taiwan-based publication Digtimes.
The news organization reports that Nintendo has joined with the manufacturing company, Foxconn Electronics to begin production by October “at the latest.” However, Pegatron Technology is attempting to grab some of the orders as well.
In March, Nintendo announced its plan to reveal the NX in 2016, with the release of the console to take place the same year. According to Digitimes, “mass production will start in May or June 2016, while the console’s official launch may take place around July.”
It has also been reported that Nintendo is looking to ship 20 million NX consoles in the first year.
The Nintendo NX was first announced in March along with the company partnering up with DeNa to create mobile games. While Nintendo Chief executive Satoru Iwata said that the NX is a console with a “ brand-new concept” no key details have been revealed.
