Rounding out a busy weekend full of Fourth of July fun and Women’s World Cup action, Splatoon’s first Splatfest event starts today and runs for the next 24 hours. Originally scheduled to take place two weeks ago, Nintendo postponed Splatfest after players on its Japanese servers encountered some unfortunate and significant matchmaking bugs early into the event.
Splatfest splits Splatoon’s entire pool of players into two groups, depending on which team each individual pledges their allegiance to; for this first Splatfest, it’s a choice between dogs and cats. The winning team is decided by the collective performance of its players over the course of the weekend, so get out there and do your part. (Go Cats!)
