Spectra blew out of the starting gate today for both PC and Xbox One, complete with celebratory trailer to show off its cube-collecting, chiptune-driven action. You play as a ship rocketing down a neon-purple track that’s procedurally generated to the music, picking up yellow cubes for score while plotting the best, most points-earning course through the branching, twisting, obstacle-littered speedway. It’s a minimalist game that’s all about the immediate challenge, and the soundtrack powers the entire experience with a crunchy jolt of pure chiptune energy. If the music sounds familiar it’s because each of the ten tracks are by Chipzel, of Super Hexagon fame. Check out the trailer below, and if it catches your fancy don’t miss the game and soundtrack combo.
