Konami revealed the final box art for Hideo Kojima’s upcoming game Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, and it’s missing something we’ve come to expect.
Following in the footsteps of their actions earlier this year, Konami has removed Kojima’s traditional moniker marking all of his works. The game will not have the line “A Hideo Kojima Game” sporting its covers this time around.
If you can’t recall when this drama all started earlier this year, Konami went on a rebranding spree and everything that held Kojima’s moniker, even the twitter account, was changed. That led to speculation which was ambiguously confirmed by Konami and outright confirmed from his loving voice actors.
You can view Metal Gear Solid V’s finalized box art below. Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is scheduled to release September 1 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC.
