Back in 1987, there was a little 8-bit baseball game on NES and in arcades called Bases Loaded or “Moero!! Pro Yakyuu” (Japanese for “Burn!! Pro Baseball”). Developed by Jaleco, this little sports game made its way to the US in 1988, and the original Game Boy in 1990. Modern gamers can get the game on the Nintendo Virtual Console for their Wii, 3DS, or Wii U. Many sequels followed its release but the series never quite made it past the original PlayStation era.
Now, new publisher Mebius has announced on their official site that Bases Loaded will be returning exclusively on the PlayStation 4 in Japan. It will be developed by Clarice Games and will sport pixel art graphics that are heavily reminiscent of the original’s. If the game’s first image below is anything to go by, it looks like the new Bases Loaded will be looking to recreate the original with a few new twists, but not much else.
