Check out Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide’s First Dev Diary

The developers at Fatshark Games and Games Workshop are doing a pretty job with the dark, first-person, cooperative multiplayer melee-shooter hybrid Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide. The nearly-excessive title tells you all you need to know about this game’s setting: it’s going to be dark, it will seem hopeless, and it will feature plenty of vermin in a unique setting in the Warhammer universe. Fans of the Warhammer table-top games, the Dawn of War real-time strategy video game series, or the third-person shooter¬†Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine, may be intrigued by Vermintide’s darker tone and first-person gameplay perspective. Players have five different heroes to play as, each of course with their own unique looks and abilities. Those familiar with games like Left 4 Dead, will be more familiar with the idea here as Vermintide heavily features cooperative killing, crushing, shooting, and maiming in large doses.

Whereas shooting in first-person is a tad more than standard fare, potential fans may be interested in Vermintide’s approach to first-person melee combat. Loot will also play a significant, motivating role in this game and so different melee weapons will need to feel satisfying. There also aren’t many games out there where players spend almost all of their time killing many different, creative interpretations of the term “monster rat” – known in the game’s lore as Skaven.

Take a look at the first developer diary below. The game is currently targeted for a Fall release this year for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. People¬†interested in the game’s beta can sign up at the official website here. For more on Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide, check out our preview.
