Former Assassin’s Creed Writer Joins Certain Affinity as Narrative Director

Corey May, the writer of numerous Assassin’s Creed games, has joined Austin, TX based developer Certain Affinity. Certain Affinity is moving into AAA development, and has hired May as Narrative Director.

“I’m thrilled to welcome Corey to Austin and Certain Affinity,” said Max Hoberman, President of Certain Affinity. “This is the first of several new key leadership positions as we evolve from helping others with AAA development to developing entire games on our own. While multiplayer will continue to be an important part of our DNA and our project portfolio, we’re also intent on becoming experts at single player and cooperative experiences. Best-in-class talent like Corey building and leading our Narrative Department is a huge leap in this direction, and his experience and perspective will be tremendous assets to us.”

Corey’s credits include Assassin’s Creed, Assassin’s Creed II, Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood, Assassin’s Creed III, Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones, and Batman: Arkham Origins. He previously worked at Ubisoft Montreal, where he oversaw narrative direction on that studio’s projects.

“Joining Certain Affinity as the company’s narrative director is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” said Corey May. “The projects are so interesting and intriguing…but it is the entire company team that is the real draw. There’s just so much talent and passion on display here – and it’s infectious.”

Certain Affinity is best known for helping other studios on big projects. They’ve worked with Activision on Call of Duty multiplayer and DLC. In addition, they’ve also worked with 343 Industries on Halo: Combat Evolved Anniversary, Halo 4, and Halo: The Master Chief Collection. This jump into AAA development is uncharted territory for the company, and we wish them the best of luck.
