Sony has teased the next Firmware Update for PS4, though its nothing to write home about. Like so many other PS4 updates, 2.57 is minor and focus on improving the stability of some features.

The last major update, 2.5, added the highly anticipated Suspend/Resume feature. While its great that Sony continues to improve stability, many fans are anxiously awaiting the next big update. Features like external HDD support, the ability for friends to take control of your game, and proper backwards compatibility are all highly demanded by fans. The Xbox One, PS4’s direct competitor, already has external HDD support and is adding native backwards compatibility this holiday. Hopefully the next firmware update will bring some of these fan-requested features to PS4.
