If you live in the West, you may not be very familiar with the Ani-Com & Games Hong Kong 2015 event which runs annually from July 24 through 28 in Hong Kong. The ever-growing comic and games event started off with a bang this year as Sony Computer Entertainment Hong Kong announced “Cyber Danganronpa VR: Class Trial”, a technology demo for Sony’s Project Morpheus Virtual Reality headset.
Developed by Spike Chunsoft, Danganronpa VR takes players into a first-person version of Danganronpa 1 and 2’s famous class trial gameplay segments, but with 3D models of the characters. For those unfamiliar with the popular Danganronpa class trials, these sessions are where the player character must figure out who among the class of students in the trial is guilty of murder. These sessions are very dialogue-heavy and players are expected to pay close attention to uncover the killer’s identity. Given Danganronpa’s popularity and the enthralling nature of these class trial segments, a VR version of the experience seems like a no-brainer now.
No new information is available at this time, but see below for the first screen shots of the VR tech demo. Hopefully, interest will spike for this demo, and inspire a full VR release of the Danganronpa games in the future.
