Former Dead Island 2 developer, Yager Productions, has filed for insolvency after being dropped from the project earlier this month.
In a statement, Managing Director Timo Ullmann says that the company gains time to reorganize and protect its staff.
“As single-purpose company, Yager Productions GmbH was assigned to the development of the Deep Silver title Dead Island 2,” said Ullmann. “The insolvency filing is a direct result from the early termination of the project and helps protecting our staff. In the course of the proceedings, we gain time to sort out the best options for reorganizing this entity.”
Publisher Deep Silver says that it remains committed to the project but no new developer has been officially announced. Yager on the other hand, continues to develop Dreadnought for Grey Box and work on unannounced projects as well.
Dead Island 2 has a release window set for 2016 and will launch on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
