Currently available on Steam Early Access, Warhammer 40,000: Regicide is a turn-based strategy game with RPG elements that intentionally resembles chess. Indie developer Hammerfall Publishing have announced the game’s official release date of August 26 this year on PC.
Newcomers and fans of the Warhammer 40,000 series and lore alike will be treated to a single-player story beginning with space marine Captain Dracomedes and his Blood Angels. The Blood Angel space marines will fight against the alien invaders that threaten the fate of capital planet and strategic position Hethgar Prime.
Unlike the Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War real-time strategy game series, Regicide is focused on the immediate strategy of having all your pieces on the board and killing your opponent’s units in excessive ways. Hammerfall Publishing ensured there was much more to the game than meets the eye. It features a three-act story-driven campaign composed of fifty missions, an XP and leveling system, full tier upgrade system for units, and much more content including (and not limited to) authentic Russian, German, and French localizations. There is also the fact that the gameplay itself is not exactly the same as chess.
