Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide Gets Second Dev Diary

Indie developer Fatshark released the second installment of their Inside The Vermintide developer diary video series. The latest video details the enemies and visceral combat of Warhammer: End Time – Vermintide. Associate Producer Liam O’Neill and Game Designer Victor Magnuson go a bit in-depth with how they have put together their game.

Vermintide is a co-op-focused first-person fantasy shooter/action game where a team of players will work together to survive through a level filled with merciless Skaven, an anthropomorphic rat species presented here through a vicious variety of different enemy types. Not unlike games like Left 4 Dead, Vermintide is about working together through a string of dynamic encounters. However, the major differences that set Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide apart do not end at the Warhammer lore the game draws from. Many of the player characters use melee weapons which can be unlocked and earned. Detailed work was put into these varied weapons to make sure they handled and slew monsters like players would want that weapon to. Greatswords tear Skaven to shreds, warhammers send them flying, and there is a nice attention to reactive dismemberment here to keep the kills satisfying.

Take a look at part 2 of Inside The Vermintide below. The game is currently targeted for a Fall release this year for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. For more on Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide, check out our preview here.
