Arnie Roth, the producer and music director for Distant Worlds: music from Final Fantasy, has clarified his statement made about a Final Fantasy XII remake he made over the weekend at a concert. There is no Final Fantasy XII remake, but Roth did not shoot down speculation about an HD Remaster.
“In response to comments posted by fans, I want to rectify a statement made from the stage Saturday night at our Distant Worlds: music from Final Fantasy concert in Pittsburgh,” Roth posted on Facebook.
“Following conversations with composer Hitoshi Sakimoto regarding new concert arrangements of music from Final Fantasy XII, regrettably, the term ‘remake’ was used in error during one of the announcements that took place from the stage during the concert. We sincerely regret any confusion this has caused.”
We must remember that the entire soundtrack for Final Fantasy X was redone for the Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster. Seeing as Square Enix did this for X, it is entirely possible that XII’s soundtrack would receive the same treatment. Both Gamescom and Tokyo Game Show are right around the corner, so hopefully we’ll get an announcement soon. Next March will be Final Fantasy XII’s tenth anniversary.
