World of Warcraft: Legion was announced today at Gamescom by Blizzard Entertainment. This is the sixth expansion pack for the franchise, and reintroduces the Burning Legion from the first expansion, Burning Crusade.
The expansion revolves around the Burning Legion’s latest invasion. Illidan the Betrayer and Gul’dan will be back from Burning Crusade. All of the story content will take place on The Broken Isles, a vast new continent to explore. The continent lies at the hear of Azeroth, and used to be a Night Elf civilization before its destruction. Players will travel to the Tomb Sargeras on The Broken Isles to face the Burning Legion.
In addition to the new story and continent, players will enjoy a level cap of 110, new dungeons and raids, the new Honor system, Artifact weapons, Class Order Halls, and a new Hero Class – Demon Hunter. Demon Hunters are Elven outcasts capable of using Legion powers that allow them to transform into hellish forms, cause massive damage, detect hidden enemies, double jump, and glide long distances.
World of Warcraft: Legion does not have a solid release date yet. However, a beta will take place later this year.
