EA Sports Removes Cover Star Following Sexual Assault Allegations

EA Sports has removed Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane from the NHL 16 cover, following the player’s sexual assault allegation.

In a Twitter post, the publisher stated “In light of the ongoing investigation involving Patrick Kane, he will no longer be a spokesperson for the launch of EA Sports NHL 16. He will not appear on the EA Sports NHL 16 cover, nor will he participate in other EA Sports NHL 16 promotional activities.”

According to the Buffalo News, a young woman alleged that Kane took her back to his home in Hamburg, New York and sexually assaulted her. After the fact, the woman went to a local hospital where she was examined for physical signs of rape.

The cover originally featured Kane and teammate Jonathan Toews. But as of now, the cover will just feature Toews on his own which can be seen in the photo above.
