Dying Light Sells Over 5 Million Copies

Open-world zombie title Dying Light has sold over 5 million copies, according to developer Techland.

In an interview with VideoGamer.com, Producer Tymon Smektala said “To be honest, I think even we are a little surprised by the scope of our success. we knew that Dying Light is a good game, we know it’s going to be successful, but that successful? We are in the 10 best-selling games in the US right now for the first half of the year, so tremendous success. More than 5 million copies sold.”

The developer also revealed details about the DLC, “The Following”, which will have a new campaign and almost 10 hours of gameplay. New environments and a plethora of weapons will be added as well.

“It’s 10+ hours of gameplay. If you want to maximise it then it’s about 20 hours, maybe even more,” Smektala says. “The thing is, we started smaller but the whole team got so excited that everyone in the studio wanted to leave their mark on the expansion pack. Even when we had level designers that weren’t tied to the project, they wanted to create a quest or mission or anything that could be in the expansion pack. It really sparked the imagination of our guys.”

Dying Light launched in January on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
