The digital real-time trading card game Nova Blitz successfully hit its Kickstarter goal of $40,000. With a fantasy and sci-fi theme, Nova Blitz is in many ways targeted at people who are already familiar with digital card games. Its real-time structure ensures that players take their turns simultaneously, thinking on their feet and bluffing when able and appropriate. This means that players will attack each other and each other’s cards during the same phase, going back and forth while their short-lived turn timer runs out. As a result, games easily last only five minutes or so, making sustained play that much easier to grab onto and let go of. There is a built-in tournament system as well, for those who prefer to feel like there is a summit to their winning streak.
Of course, monetizing players can trade, buy, or sell cards for real money via the Steam Community Market. Gamers on the go will also be happy to know that Nova Blitz supports cross-platform play between the different devices it’s available on.
The Kickstarter campaign for Nova Blitz ends tomorrow. Check out below for a video overview of the game delivered by developer Dragon Foundry. Nova Blitz will be available free-to-play (with in-game purchases) on PC, Mac, Linux, iOS, and Android some time next year.
