It’s probably safe to say that most of us are curious to see some gameplay footage of Pokkén Tournament, Nintendo’s upcoming Pokémon fighting game, just to get an idea of how it plays. Thanks to the 2015 Pokémon World Championships, though, we now have nearly three hours of gameplay.
The footage comes courtesy of YouTube channel NinEverything and showcases recognizable pro fighting game players like Justin Wong putting the game through its paces. The game features a healthy mix of new and classic Pokémon, pitting them against each other in fights much more like Street Fighter than the traditional turn-based Pokémon battles you’re used to. It’s actually a little weird to see how standard it makes Pokémon fights look. Still, it’s an interesting new take on a familiar franchise, and it’s cool to see it gaining traction with the pros already.
Pokkén Tournament will hit Wii U in spring 2016, so get your fix now by chewing through all three hours of professional gameplay below.
