Minecraft: Story Mode Episode 2: Assembly Required’s Release Date Confirmed

Tales from the Borderlands developer Telltale Games announced on Tuesday a release date for Minecraft: Story Mode Episode 2: Assembly Required.

Episode 2: Assembly Required is now available for download on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC/Mac, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Telltale Games, however, did not confirm an official date of when the second Minecraft: Story Mode episode will be making its way to Wii U, PlayStation Vita and Android and iOS devices.

The release date for Episode 2: Assembly Required coincides with the news that Minecraft: Story Mode can be purchased at retailers in North America on October 27 and October 30 in Europe.

Physical copies of Minecraft: Story Mode will have “a special Season Pass Disc,” meaning that Episode 1: The Order of the Stone is available immediately to play and that subsequent episodes can be digitally downloaded when they’re released.

The Season Pass Disc will launch at $29.99 for Xbox One, PS4, PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, Telltale Games confirmed in a blog post on its official website.

With Episode 2: Assembly Required being released this week, Telltale Games also released the launch trailer for the new episode, which you can check out below.

“Time is running out for our intrepid heroes, as the Wither Storm looms ever closer, consuming everything in its wake,” Episode 2: Assembly Required’s synopsis reads. “Jesse and friends are off to explore wondrous Redstone marvels and kingdoms of chaos in search of Magnus and Ellegaard, the remaining known members of The Order of the Stone. Can these legendary figures help our heroes stop the impending threat?”

Hardcore Gamer was impressed with how Telltale Games mixed up its style for Episode 1: The Order of the Stone, straying away from the “more mature content” it normally handles in favor of creating “a fun, family-friendly world.” Read more about Episode 1: The Order of the Stone in our review.
