Downwell was a critical hit when it was first released on iOS, but its Android debut took quite some time. In a slightly strange move, it was actually released on PC via Steam before it hit the Google Play Store. This vertical shooter mixes things up by starting you at the top and sending you to the bottom, and rewards you for not only making progress, but destroying as many things as you can that are in your path. There’s a touch of an RPG mechanic thrown in too with upgrades, and a bit of puzzle-solving too since you have to plan things around the level layout as well. The game costs $3 on every platform, so give it a shot if this sounds like your cup of tea.
