H1Z1 Spinning-Off Into Two Different Games

Developer Daybreak Game Company has announced that H1Z1 is being spun-off into two different games focusing on different experiences.

H1Z1 launched last year as part of Steam Early Access. Though it had quite a few bumps, Daybreak Game Company (formerly Sony Online Entertainment) has managed to turn the game into a largely enjoyable experience. They plan to make the experience even more enjoyable by spinning the game off into two games: H1Z1: Just Survive and H1Z1: King of the Kill. The decision to do this stems from the community, which has grown divided since launch.

“Last year, we started to notice new player trends emerging – both the initial Survival game and Battle Royale game mode now have strong populations who almost exclusively play one or the other,” writes Daybreak Game Company.

“The more we developed this game with you, our community, the more we realized that in order to fully support both aspects of H1Z1, and their respective players, we needed to make them their own stand-alone games supported by their own dedicated development teams. Many players in the community have been discussing splitting the game and we’ve heard you loud and clear. We want to make sure we give both titles the support they need and deserve to truly flourish.

“So, we’ve decided to do just that.”

Just Survive focuses entirely on delivering an open-world zombie survival experience. If you want to craft, scavenge, and survive, this is the game you’ll want to get. King of the Kill is a fast-paced shooter comprised of multiple game modes, including Battle Royale. Each game will be given its own development resources to ensure both products are satisfactory.

H1Z1: Just Survive and H1Z1: King of the Kill arrive on Steam Early Access for $19.99 each. Anyone who already owns H1Z1, or purchases the game before February 16 will get both Just Survive and King of the Kill at no extra charge. Existing crates, keys, and items will be duplicated across both games. Airdrop tickets will be usable in Just Survive, and Event tickets will be usable in King of the Kill.

Daybreak Game Company is also happy to announce that H1Z1: Just Survive and H1Z1: King of the Kill are coming to PS4 and Xbox One. The plan is to launch on consoles this summer after both H1Z1 games are taken out of Early Access. Daybreak will keep gamers updated on any progress.
