TOMY and PlayFusion Announce partnership for New Toys-to-Life IP

In a release earlier today, a partnership between toy production giant TOMY and the relatively new PlayFusion.

“TOMY International, Inc. and PlayFusion Ltd announce the signing of a global licensing agreement, naming TOMY International as master toy licensee for PlayFusion’s highly-anticipated next-generation fantasy role-playing game that will deliver unparalleled transmedia storytelling. The partnership brings together the toy innovation know-how of TOMY and the gaming expertise of PlayFusion”

Any toys-to-life game featuring TOMY is sure to draw interest. TOMY produces licensed toys for brands like Pokémon, Cars, Toy Story, Winnie the Pooh and even John Deere among many, many others. The potential audience is a huge one. This is definitely something that the company, along with their new partners, is aware of.

“We believe our partnership is uniquely positioned to become the leading game, toy and technology platform for this hyper-growth category over the next 3 to 5 years”

The other half of the partnership, PlayFusion, is a little less well known. Founded in January 2015 by former Jagex (Runescape) CEO Mark Gerhard, PlayFusion has big ambitions. Claiming to “uniquely fuse video games, robotics, toys and transmedia entertainment” they seem like a good fit for toys-to-life.

It will be interesting to see how the partnership progresses. Currently, there is no word on the actual game but you can find more information about the partnership and their plans in the official announcement.
