Bandai Namco and GameStop have teamed up to make Slashy Souls, an endless runner inspired by Bandai Namco and From Software’s upcoming Dark Souls III.
As you can see in the trailer below, the game strips Dark Souls III down to its fundamentals. Enemies block the player’s progress as an ever-encroaching fog threatens to swallow him up from the left side of the screen. In classic Souls fashion, you’ll need to play carefully and deliberately to succeed as enemies will use shields to stop you from mashing your way through and cannot simply be jumped over. You can roll, wield different weapons and magic, and fight enemies and bosses (you can see Gravelord Nito and the giant boar in the trailer) translated from the games. And when you die, familiar text splatters onto the screen.
All in all, it looks like a relatively faithful translation, but it could easily end up a little too slashy and without enough soul. Slashy Souls launches tomorrow for iOS and Android.
