It’s becoming pretty obvious that the Limited Run Games has been very busy in the quiet early months of this year with the announcement that Eastasiasoft is getting a three titles brought to physical release. Announced this evening are Lost Sea (PS4), Rainbow Moon (PS4, Vita), and Soldner-X 2: Final Prototype (Vita). The details are scarce about pricing and dates but all games will come with nice full-color manuals like it’s 2001 all over again. Rainbow Moon comes with cross-save support, which is handy if you’ve buy both versions, and Soldner-X 2 continues the trend started by Oddworld of including the DLC on disc with the game, in this case the Last Chapter add-on. Additionally, Rainbow Moon and Soldner X-2 both get new trophies for the physical releases unavailable in the digital downloads.
Possibly the most interesting aspect of today’s news is that Lost Sea, an adventure game set on a series of procedurally-generated islands, is coming out for PS4 physically and digitally at the same time. On the one hand it’s nice to get all patches and DLC on the disc, on the other this is the first title from the publisher to get a simultaneous release in what had been the standard fashion up until the last year or so. It’s a bold new future for gaming that bears a startling resemblance to normalcy.
