Atlus Is Pinning Hopes On the Shin Megami Tensei IV: Apocalypse Launch Edition

People who didn’t play Atlus’ Shin Megami Tensei IV on the 3DS missed out. It is quite possibly the best title on the system. There is ample time to make up for this before the companion game, Apocalypse, launches this summer, also for the 3DS. Players already on board this train will get a little treat if they pre-order or pick up the launch edition: a set of three rather sweet metal pins that was announced today. This news seemed like a good enough excuse for me to remind players that this game is coming.

The pins represent the mark of Dagda, the god who resurrects the protagonist at the beginning of this new title. Upon resurrection, Dagda leaves his mark, as gods are known to do. Peace or Anarchy will be up to the player, both in style and in the game.

Shin Megami Tensei IV Apocalypse Launch Edition

The story of the this RPG is set to overlap the events of the original Shin Megami Tensei IV, with players trying to navigate a chess game of the gods. Boasting over 450 demons to recruit and fight, there will be plenty for completionists to work on. The fusion system is also promised to be improved with more information being made available to the player, allowing the results to be better planned. Plus, it’s a chance to return to post-apocalyptic Tokyo and kick some demonic ass. Finally, it is promised that players who jump into this edition will not be missing out on any story aspects; it is tuned so that returning players will appreciate some nuances and returning characters while being sure that the new audience is not lost.
