So were you excited about Doom creators John Romero and Adrian Carmack crowdfunding their new FPS Blackroom on Kickstarter, possibly leading to a new high-octane shooter from the legendary duo? Well, it looks like you’ll have to wait a little longer before you can even chip in, as the developers have halted progress on the campaign for the moment.
In an update for Kickstarter backers, the reason for putting things on hold for the moment is quite simple: The gaming community wants to see a gameplay demo showing what Blackroom will look like in action. However, since creating a demo will take longer than the crowdfunding campaign was supposed to last, the developers have decided to cancel the campaign for now and start again once the demo is finished.
No word yet on an estimate for how long it will take to whip up a demo, although one can easily deduct that it should appear next month at the earliest. Considering that Blackroom had already raised over $130,000 on Kickstarter in less than a week before things were cancelled, hopefully this means that a new campaign with a demo should be even more successful.
