A potential Watch Dogs 2 leak has outed the fact that Aiden Pearce, Watch Dogs’ protagonist, is being replaced for the sequel.
NerdLeaks spotted a peculiar post by actor Cort King. The actor uploaded an image to Instagram featuring a glasses and bandanna-wearing 3D character model. In the description, King mentions that this is the lead character of Watch Dogs 2, and that the game is coming to PS4 and Xbox One.
King has since made his Instagram profile private, but the damage has been done. A change in protagonist suggests that Ubisoft is taking the franchise in different directions, and without Aiden Pearce. To be honest, the loss of Pearce is likely a positive thing as he was one of the most criticized aspects of the original game.
A Watch Dogs 2 announcement could be right around the corner as Ubisoft will likely make the announcement at E3 2016. Considering that there will be no Assassin’s Creed game this year, the likelihood that Watch Dogs 2 will take its place is high. The truth will be revealed at Ubisoft’s E3 2016 press conference, which takes place Monday, June 13 at 1pm PT.
