EA will extend its partnership with Coldwood Interactive to help them fund their next project, according to a post on EA’s website.
Coldwood Interactive is the studio behind Unravel, the 2D platformer with the cute protagonist, Yarny. The Swedish developer funded Unravel with EA’s help, and Patrick Söderland, EA’s Executive Vice President, said that they are very excited to work with them again. “We don’t have any details to share right now, but we look forward to sharing more when the time is right,” Söderland said. “We could not be more excited to continue working with Martin Sahlin and the great team at Coldwood, and to see the next adventure they bring to life.”
What their next game is is a mystery, but it will likely be inspired by Sweden itself, as was Unravel. Martin Sahlin, Coldwood’s creative director, talked a lot during their first game’s development about how he finds many of his ideas come from nature and the landscapes of his country. Hear him talk about it in a video below and even more in our extensive interview with him.
Unravel was well received, so EA seems to be betting that the next thing from Coldwood will be good too.
