Hollow Ponds Announces Roguelike Strategy Game Loot Rascals

Say, have you ever wondered what it would be like if Hohokum and Adventure Time had a baby? Well, now we have a game crafted by some of the developers and animators behind both, so wonder no more! London-based developer Hollow Ponds has indeed revealed the announcement trailer for their new roguelike strategy game Loot Rascals, which you can view below.

Loot Rascals has you playing as an astronaut stranded on a distant planet, trying to find their way home. Of course, the numerous monsters, robots, and A.I.-controlled holograms of other players in your path won’t make it easy. In addition to its vibrant style meant to evoke classic cartoons with a modern twist, Loot Rascals also aims to deliver unique gameplay based around collectable cards and deck-building, as the cards which represent your equipment can be looted by other players after you die (or they can return it to you if they’re altruistic), and you can do the same. You also have to manage your cards carefully, as you need to try and figure out which ones will do best for each procedurally generated level.

Loot Rascals is due out in the first quarter of 2017 for both PC and PlayStation 4. In addition, a demo of it will also be showcased at the PlayStation booth at E3 2016, so stay tuned to Hardcore Gamer in the coming month for our possible hands-on impressions of it, as it looks like quite the hoot indeed.
