Pro Evolution Soccer 2017 Announced, First Screenshots Released

Publisher Konami has announced today the next installment in its long-running soccer franchise, Pro Evolution Soccer 2017.

The 2016 PES World Finals of the UEFA Champions League eSports event will be where Konami is debuting “an early version” of PES 2017.

According to Konami, the 2016 PES World Finals is to coincide with the eagerly awaited 2016 UEFA Champions League final encounter between Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid, taking place on May 28 at the San Siro in Milan, Italy.

Konami’s competitive PES tournament will be held from May 27 to May 28, with the winner of the tournament taking home €15,000 and tickets to the UEFA Champions League final.

“Exclusive to Pro Evolution Soccer, it is fitting that we use the UEFA Champions League final, the world’s greatest club competition, and the culmination of another hugely successful PES League season to reveal PES 2017,” says Tomotada Tashiro, president at Konami Digital Entertainment B.V.

“As 32 of the world’s best PES players gather to compete, our commitment to reaching new heights of realism and fun will also be demonstrated. May 27 and 28 will be a celebration of all that is great about football — and the first showing of PES 2017 will elevate the series to a whole new level.”

PES 2017 will be powered using the Fox Engine, the same game engine used for Konami titles such as Pro Evolution Soccer 2016, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.

As with every other recent PES installment, PES 2017 will be introducing new mechanics and features, including ‘Real Touch,’ which allows players to control the ball in “unique and different ways,” and ‘Precise Pass,’ a way for creating a more clinical, decisive pass.

You can read all about the other new aspects included in PES 2017 on the Konami’s PES website.

Following on from its premiere at the 2016 PES World Finals, Konami is planning to reveal even more information on PES 2017 at this year’s E3, running from June 14 to June 16 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

PES 2017 is expected to launch in the fall of 2016 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
