Minecraft Surpasses One Hundred Million Copies Sold

As if it wasn’t already a big enough phenomenon, developer Mojang has just announced that Minecraft has surpassed one hundred million units sold globally, across a myriad of different platforms and devices.

First released in 2009 as a playable alpha, Minecraft has since been ported to well over a dozen different platforms, ranging from current and past gen consoles, to handhelds and mobile devices. To celebrate, Mojang has released a handy infographic (which you can check out below), along with a few interesting facts about the game’s sales figures. While many perceive Minecraft to be most popular among children, the average age of a Minecraft player is 29, with 40% of Minecraft players being female.
