Horizon Zero Dawn Delayed to 2017, New Trailer Released

Horizon Zero Dawn, the upcoming action RPG title from Killzone Shadow Fall developer Guerrilla Games, has received a new release date.

Hermen Hulst, managing director at Guerrilla Games, posted on the PlayStation Blog that Horizon Zero Dawn would now launch in North America on February 28, 2017, for PlayStation 4.

Meanwhile, Europe is expected to receive Horizon Zero Dawn on March 1 before arriving in the UK on March 3.

“It wasn’t an easy choice to make [delaying Horizon Zero Dawn]; we know many of you have been anxious to play the game since we first announced it,” Hulst wrote.

“However, we also want to ensure that Horizon Zero Dawn lives up to the visuals and gameplay quality that our games are known for. The new date affords us the extra time required to deliver fully on our ambitious vision for Horizon Zero Dawn.”

Hulst followed up by saying that while the highly anticipated title has been delayed, Guerrilla Games will continue to share more “cool details and videos” from Horizon Zero Dawn.

Hulst officially announced Horizon Zero Dawn at Sony’s 2015 E3 press conference. Horizon Zero Dawn is the first IP that Guerrilla Games is developing since its involvement with the Killzone franchise, spanning back more than a decade.

The latest trailer, which is three minutes long (see below), places the full focus on Aloy, Horizon Zero Dawn’s leading heroine.
