Xbox Summer 2016 Update Detailed

Microsoft continues to push forward with new and exciting firmware updates for their Xbox One interface, beating out their competition handily over the last two years in that department, and it looks like this summer we will be getting a big one. Microsoft has detailed their next major update, adding more social, game and device options than ever before.

For starters, Cortana for Xbox One will now be a thing. If you don’t know what that is, Cortana was released for Windows 10 and acted as a voice search option similar to something like Apple’s Siri. Next is your game collection. While the game collection interface has always been generally well received, Microsoft is changing its design ever so slightly to better fit those with a larger database.

Sharing game clips and screenshots will be made easier, an enhanced Xbox app on Windows 10 better allows for GameDVR management and editing, along with (finally) 60fps recordings on Game bar using the “very high” video quality setting. The Xbox and Windows stores will converge for a more consolidated experience, and the activity feed has become more personal. Facebook will also be updated to better help search for friends.

This update will become available sometime in summer, with Xbox’s Preview Program testing these features starting this week.
