Summon Night 5 is probably the last physical PSP game ever but that’s no reason to stop a popular series now. Summon Night 6: Lost Borders has been under localization since early this year and today it can be made officially official that both Vita and PS4 versions are coming to the US from Gaijinworks in digital and physical editions. The physical editions will be a first for Gaijinworks, in that they’ll be available at regular retail stores instead of website-only, but for those wanting to give a little extra there will be deluxe editions available exclusively from the website when preorders go live.
Summon Night 6 is a stand-alone game but, seeing as it was created as a 15th anniversary celebration for the series, features a large number of characters from the previous games in supporting roles. Dozens of characters start falling from the sky in a world that’s only sparsely populated, and the three main protagonists go from living almost completely alone to swamped with more company than they know what to do with. This event, of course, can only be the precursor to an epic strategy RPG adventure, with all the combat and character interaction the series is known for leading to over a dozen endings with variations for each depending on the characters’ affinity levels for each other.
Summon Night 6: Lost Borders is releases first quarter 2017, and details on the deluxe edition won’t be available until after E3 next week. That’s only a bit over a year between Summon Night 5 and Summon Night 6, which should do very nice things to get the series the fan momentum it deserves.
