From Team Ninja, best known for their work on Dead or Alive, and most notably Ninja Gaiden, comes a Dark Souls-esque hack’n slasher action title. Nioh was originally announced in the early-to-mid 2000s but after nothing came of it, we all but thought it was lost the ether. Fortunately that wasn’t the case as a couple of months ago Nioh was re-announced with a scheduled release of this year.
For E3 this year, Koei Tecmo has not only confirmed that they still plan to release the hack’n slash RPG later this year, but they will also be releasing a second demo in August. The first beta that was released during the game’s announcement in April generated over 850,000 users, and Koei Tecmo hopes the second will garner even more.
In addition, a new trailer has been shown, featuring some of the exciting action you can expect. Nioh is currently planned for a 2016 release, exclusively for PlayStation 4.
