While all eyes interested in PlayStation VR games have been aimed mostly toward the likes of Resident Evil 7 or Final Fantasy XV, it’s definitely worth noting that another classic video game is stepping into the VR ring with the others as well: Psychonauts, with Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin. And today, we got to see our first look at Rhombus’ gameplay with a look at the E3 demo, currently on display at the show right now and which you at home can view below (minus the VR, sadly).
Taking place after the end of the first game, the demo has the player controlling Raz in the game’s opening as they ride a plane with Sasha, Milla, Lili, and Coach Oleander on their journey to rescue Truman Zannotto, the Grand Head of the Psychonauts. We get to see how some of Raz’s powers from the first game will play out here, including Telekinesis, Pyrokinesis, and especially Clairvoyance, which is used for jumping around the area to see things through the viewpoints of others (although sadly without the unique versions of Raz like in the original…for now, at least).
It looks like Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin is definitely shaping up to be an incredible appetizer to tide us over before Psychonauts 2 comes out in 2018, as well as what could easily be a great game on its own. Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin is due out exclusively for PlayStation VR later this year, and we’ll keep you updated with any further details on it as they come.
