EU LCS Summer Split Week 3 Day 2 Predictions

Yesterday was good for my W/L record considering the odds are stacked against me. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for Roccat and Giants who couldn’t capitalize on opportunities to move out of the bottom of the bracket. Here’s the standings going into day two.

1. G2 Esports (11 pts)

2. Fnatic (10 pts)

3. H2K (9 pts)

4. Splyce (8 pts)

5. Roccat, Team Vitality (6 pts)

7. FC Schalke 04, Origen (5 pts)

9. Giants, Unicorns Of Love (3 pts)

With a tie G2 remain in the driver’s seat for this split with 11 points. Fnatic capitalized on that match up and secured three points to get second over H2K, and Vitality picked up their first win breaking a streak of ties. Here’s an astute observation: when you don’t get any points you’re probably going to go down the ladder and lose whatever progress you got. I’m looking at you Giants. They squandered an opportunity to move further up the ladder and now sit tied for last alongside the ever struggling UOL. Here are the match ups for the last day of the week. (Overall: 6-9)

  • UOL vs G2 (0-2)
  • Roccat vs Schalke (1-1)
  • Splyce vs Fnatic (0-2)
  • Vitality vs H2K (1-1)
  • Giants vs Origen (0-2)

UOL is literally in last place and haven’t found any success this split. They’re facing their opposite in G2 who are currently sitting atop the ladder though their lead slight. This shouldn’t be a problem for G2 and they should lock up another 3 points.

Roccat dropped to Origen and in their defense Origen found something that works for xPeke. Schalke on the other hand haven’t found something that works for them as they lost to Fnatic who moved up to second place. Considering neither team is performing great and they both like to tie that’s what I’m opting in for this week in their match up.

Splyce thus far hasn’t fared well against the top of the ladder and when facing teams outside of it they tend to tie. Fnatic have had a great split only dropping to H2K. This is more of a safe pick. I’ll take Fnatic assuming they can continue their run.

Ties muddy things up and make predictions hard. Nobody likes a tie, but you’ll take it if it means your team isn’t on the losing end. These teams know it best as ties are the main reason they’re having a decent split thus far. While they sit in fifth ties are the what’s keeping Vitality there. It’s mainly because they seem to not be able to take the second game after winning the first. The same can be said for H2K as they’re mostly losing the second game of their match ups keeping them from being atop the ladder. Keeping with the trend that both of these teams have going I’m going to settle for a tie here.

Origen found something that works for them this last match. When in doubt of your adc at least allow them to have an impact by providing the team some utility so they chose Ashe. Last week they went with Sivir but that didn’t work out too well for them as they drew. The Ashe allowed them to make some nice picks and when banned out why not pick up Ezreal who’s not only strong, but familiar for mid laners. They’ll be continuing this strategy into today’s match against Giants and it should give them the edge here.

Feel free at all times to share your thoughts in the comments below. If you think I’m a bumbling idiot then say so, but at least provide why. More importantly if you have any readability issues or know of a better way to structure things feel free to drop a comment as well. Please if you can save me from counting ties as losses I would be super appreciative /cry.
