Warner Bros. and MGM have picked a release date for Tomb Raider, the reboot to the film series.
Tomb Raider fans can flock to theatres on March 16, 2018 to see the Tomb Raider film. As previously announced back in April, Alicia Vikander, who won an Academy Award for her performance in The Danish Girl, will star as Lara Croft. No plot or additional casting details were given.
This will be third time Lara Croft has made the jump from game to screen. Paramount produced Lara Craft: Tomb Raider (2001) and The Cradle of Life (2003) with Angelina Jolie starring. Both films did ok at the box office, and neither received much critical praise. This Tomb Raider, however, is a full reboot and will have nothing to do with the Angelina Jolie films. MGM and Warner Bros. will co-produce after getting the rights from GK Films who had previously gotten them from Square Enix in 2011.
Be sure to check out Tomb Raider in theatres on March 16, 2018. In the meantime, you can play the latest game in the series, Rise of the Tomb Raider, right now on Xbox One, PC, and Xbox 360, and this holiday on PS4.
