Earth Defense Force 4.1 Brings the Bugs to Steam

Earth Defense Force 4.1: The Shadow of New Despair was the definitive edition of the latest version of the insect invasion when it came out on PS4 back in December, but now there’s a new contender in the form of next week’s Steam release.  July 18 sees the launch of EDF 4.1 for PC, with dozens of missions and millions of enemies waiting to be dominated by the huge arsenal of weapons available to the four player classes.  All the features of the PS4 edition make it to the new version, including online co-op, and also 16 DLC extras available on the same day.  Fortunately these are all skins and extra-powerful weapons, and completely optional seeing as there are already over 800 guns, grenades, lances, mines, turrets, lasers, mortars, rocket launchers, decoys, support items, and other tools available.

EDF 4.1 is going to be a full-priced release at $49.99, but the 30% launch discount bringing it down to $35 should help take the edge off for series fans looking to double-dip after the PS4 version, and maybe free up a few dollars for that purple tank covered in anime girls you’ve been eyeing.
