Popular Final Fantasy IV Hero Kain Joins Dissidia Final Fantasy

Square Enix is adding another character to Dissidia Final Fantasy, Kain Highwind.

Final Fantasy IV is already represented by Cecil Harvey, but that isn’t stopping Square Enix from including another character from the popular entry. Kain Highwind, the legendary dragoon, will join the ever-growing cast of Dissidia Final Fantasy. The inclusion of Kain makes sense considering that he was a playable character in Dissidia 012.

Kain’s playstyle appears very similar to what we saw in 012. As a dragoon, Kain primarily uses his lance to deal damage, continuously lunging at enemies and showing mastery of the Jump ability.

Square Enix appears to be determined to include all previously playable characters from previous Dissidia games before adding in new characters. Missing heroes include Tifa, Laguna Loire, Yuna, and Prishe, and missing villains include The Emperor, Cloud of Darkness, Golbez, Exdeath, Gilgamesh, Sephiroth, Ultimecia, Kuja, Jecht, and Gabranth. The only brand new characters are Y’shtola (Final Fantasy XIV) and Ramza Beoulve (Final Fantasy Tactics).

Dissidia Final Fantasy is only playable on arcade machines in Japan. A PS4 version is currently believed to be in development, but has yet to be announced.
