It’s been speculated whether or not Nordic Games would continue the Darksiders IP following the Deathinitive Edition of Darksiders II released in October of last year, but it would seem the hack-and-slash Action RPG will be coming back once more in some shape or form with a remastered edition, this time, of the first game. Under the sub-title, Warmastered Edition, the original 2010 title will — according to Nordic Games’ website — return with a native 1080p resolution, running at 60 FPS in what it describes as “moment to moment gameplay”. However, it’s important to note that this frame-rate will only apply to the PS4, Xbox One & PC versions of the release; the Wii U edition, which has also been listed as a platform, will only run at 30FPS.
Nordic also state the remaster will include doubled texture resolution, rendering improvements/reworks, better shadow rendering quality as well as additional post processing effects. They don’t state, however, if any of these features are optional or indeed customizable on any of the game’s mentioned platforms. No release date has been given, but be sure to stay tuned as we learn more of what now appears to be a confirmed remaster of the original Darksiders.
