Ever since its reveal in October, we’ve been wondering exactly what games – especially third-party titles – would be appearing on the Nintendo Switch. The only confirmed title we had was The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and any footage seen in the announcement trailer of franchises like Splatoon and Mario was just production footage, and thus not indicative of any actual games we would see later. Today, however, French studio Any Arts Production made a surprise announcement and revealed their Switch-exclusive game, Seasons of Heaven, along with the initial screenshots of it, which you can check out below.
To sum of Seasons of Heaven’s setup quickly, in a future where humanity has wiped itself out by causing the majority of the earth to be stripped and barren, one young boy with Asperger’s Syndrome named Yann finds himself and his bulldog Ani (whom he can communicate with through telepathy) find themselves in a mystical forest that has them traveling through time from the beginning of life to the fall of civilization, avoiding humanity’s darkest aspects along the way. Not much else is known outside of the fact that it appears to be a third-person game and runs on the Unreal Engine, but it certainly appears to be a highly ambitious project touching upon some major themes, so here’s hoping for the best when Seasons of Heaven comes out for the Switch in the future.
