Blame those Yo-Kai on its third installment reaching the top spot this week in Japan. Yo-Kai Watch 3: Sukiyaki launched on December 15 and within the week has sold over 300,000 copies. The game follows Nate as he moves to a different town but meets some friendly Yo-Kai and tries to defeat new threat.
Not only did it beat out Pokémon Sun and Moon, but claimed first place over all video games including last week’s Final Fantasy XV. The series has been keeping itself relevant in North America too thanks to its animated series, feature film, toy line, and recent release of Yo-Kai Watch 2. Of course, since the series is much more popular in Japan, one would expect it to do so well. Hopefully the momentum can keep it rolling stateside in the near future.
