Sony Interactive Entertainment today has announced that the PlayStation 4 brand did stellar over the holidays. The Japanese-based corporation has revealed that the PlayStation 4 has sold over 6.2 million units worldwide during the holiday season.
“We are truly grateful for the tremendous support from our fans and partners, which has helped to make this holiday season one of the best in our history,” said Andrew House, President and Global CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment. “We will aim to continue the momentum this year by broadening the PS4 title portfolio, further enriching the revolutionary gaming experiences on PlayStation VR and high quality gaming experience on PlayStation 4 Pro, while also expanding network services. We will remain steadfast in making the PS4 the best place to play.”
This brings the total PS4 consoles sold to 53.4 million as of January 1. That’s not all, though, as Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End has racked up a staggering 8.7 million units sold globally (both retail and digital sales) as of December 21, 2016. This is no doubt a superb achievement for Sony and Naughty Dog.
