With the Nintendo Switch’s Japanese pre-order date being January 21, it seemed unlikely that gamers would be able to pre-order the device worldwide before then. Surprisingly, right after the Nintendo Switch presentation on January 12, Wal-Mart’s site launched a pre-order page for the device. The device’s price remains at $299.99 – so no forced game bundles are being done right now. The device will ship to buyers on March 2, seemingly ensuring a close to launch delivery.
You can protect your purchase for $28 for three years or $37 for four years – making the four year option a far better value, especially when you consider how many things can go wrong with this device. You’ve got a tablet, two completely new controllers that could have kinks that need to be worked out, and a lot of variables with things like battery life and maybe having one that won’t hold a charge properly. So far, Wal-Mart is the only retailer enabling pre-orders – but we’ll keep an eye out for other retailers as well.
