Phil Spencer has confirmed that Resident Evil VII: Biohazard is the latest addition to the Xbox Play Anywhere lineup.
Xbox Play Anywhere began last year as a way to unite the Xbox One and Windows 10 platforms. Games released as part of this lineup allows the gamer to buy a copy of the game, and get a digital copy of it free on the other platform. For example, players could pick up Gears of War 4 on Xbox One, and get a digital copy to play on a Windows 10 PC. It’s a cool feature, and a major third-party game is set to join the launch lineup.
Taking to Twitter, Xbox Head Phil Spencer revealed that Resident Evil VII: Biohazard, the latest entry in the Resident Evil franchise, will be an Xbox Play Anywhere title. You’ll only need to buy one copy to play on both Xbox One and PC.

Resident Evil VII: Biohazard is the seventh mainline entry in the long-running franchise. With the goal of bringing Resident Evil back to its survival-horror roots, Capcom has employed a new first-person perspective, brought back item management, and has eliminated many of the action tropes that plagued Resident Evil 6. We won’t have to wait long to see just how good this new direction is.
Resident Evil VII: Biohazard is out January 24 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
